I agree that our most important objective and measure for our effectiveness is our authentic and positive impact we have on the kids we interact with in our profession. I like to think that while previous to my cancer battle I was at least adequate in a pedagogical sense, but excelled with good relationships with my students. Relationships that allowed them to confide in me things they might not feel comfortable talking about. By talking about what troubles them they became empowered.
